SPICY HONEY CHICKEN

This is one of my oldest recipes. This was probably my very first successful and tasty recipe and till date has not lost its charm.
It packs a sweet flavor from the honey and is backed by a punch of spiciness from the red chillies.
Its an all time favorite among my friends, so now you too should try it out and impress those taste buds.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 kg chicken
  • 1 large onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 capsicum (cut into squares)
  • 1 tsp crushed black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 4 Dry Red chillies
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey (use 1 tbsp if you don't want it too sweet)
  • 1 tbsp hot and sweet sauce
  • 2 fresh green chillies (slit in 2)
  • 1 & 1/2 tsp cornflour
  • Salt as per taste.

STEPS
  • In a pan add some oil and drop in the onions and dry red chillies. Cook on medium heat.
  • After cooking onions for 5 mins drop the chicken pieces in d pan and cook along with the onions. Add some salt to it.
  • After 10 minutes add the crushed black peppers, ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp sesame seeds, dried thyme, 1 tsp vinegar, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder and the slit green chillies. Saute for another 5 mins.
  • Drop in the capsicum and cornflour and stir fry the chicken on a high flame for 5 to 10 mins till the chicken is cooked.
  • Remove the pan contents onto a plate and set aside.
  • Now in the same pan PUT THE FLAME OFF and add the soy sauce, 1 tsp vinegar, hot and sweet sauce, honey and 1/2 tsp sesame seeds (as seen in the picture above, I'v used a little green chilli sauce as I was out of fresh green chillies).
  • Put the flame on low and stir the sauce well. Once it starts to boil you can add little more water to make the sauce thinner.
  • Now drop the chicken and the other contents into this sauce and mix well coating the chicken well in it.
  • Increase the flame to high and stir fry for 5 mins.
  • Garnish with some spring onions and serve hot.
